Steampunk Umbrella

Hello to Everyone!

Wow, its been a while!! Barely any time for cards with college, but I had some free time this weekend for this little thing. It is inspired for Poisoned Peas Challenge #7: Steampunk, check them out, they always have amazing challenges all month long.  Well if you haven't guessed by the title, and where I am doing the challenge, then I am doing steampunk again.  I have only done it once before, but I decided to be straight on the money this time. I used an image, a freebie, for participating in a Smeared Ink competition quite a while ago.  Also used Tim Holtz Steampunk Die Cuts, Tim Holtz Ideaology Sprocket Gears, Tim Holtz Ideaology Metal Spinners, Tim Holtz District Market cards, and Distressed the corners.  Enjoy

I would like to participate in the following challenge(s):

Sexto Dia... Festival de Manchas

Hello to Everyone!

I've decided to write my title in spanish, you like?   Haha, well for this day's challenge, I've was asked to make an ATC! Today's challenge was Saturday's Song, using a Beatle's classic as the challenge.  For the background I used Distress  Markers, then did some stenciling and colored some of the spaces with Sharpies.  I decided to print the Blackbird lyrics to the side of the ATC, stamped the black birds with a Tim Holtz stamp and added the Heart Wings- Cracked Heart from Smeared Ink.  Finished the heart with Glossy Accent, and used distress ink around the ATC.  Here it is! Enjoy!

Hello to Everyone!

The fifth day is upon us and the end in running near and the challenges are getting better and better.  For today, the fifth day, the challenge is Freebie Friday, yay! I get a new image just by participating here!! Love it! The image is Little Red Riding Hood, and can be seen in the link above, but Smudgy Antics has asked that only participants for the Smudge Fest can take the image, so if you like it and want it, participate! There are a couple of hours left.  And I've decided to make a card:

4th Day SmudgeFest

Hello  to Everyone!

The fourth day of the Smudge Fest has begun and another challenge has struck upon us... Another simple project for the Thursday Throwdown, where one must use between 5 colors and use at least 3 of them.  I've decided to make a bookmark using Smeared Ink's  Skull and Roses, which was a freebie and is not in the store, so I couldn't post a link to it, sorry.  Here's my creation:

used a stencil and Distress Ink (Dusty Concord) to create the veins then stamped the tombstones with a stamp by Inkadinkado.

SmudgeFest Day 2

Hello to Everyone.
It's the second day of the Smudge Fest!
The theme is Trashy Tuesday, create a project by upcycling some trash!
I made a pendant using a recycled bottle cap and a piece of a broken CD.
Used paper scraps for the center of the bottle caps, then added some Glossy Accent and tiny beads. While it dried, I word in my broken CD, first sanding the edge, then used it as a template to cut the image from Smeared Ink, Plaque from the As Death Digi Set.
Distress the borders and used Mod Podge to glue the image to the piece of CD.

The beginning of the Smudge Fest!!!

Hello to Everyone!!

The Smudge Fest has begun and I am excited to participate!!! With me being away in college now, I am trying to keep one step ahead in this with already trying to figure out what the next contest will be... Although I failed to imagine that the first one would turn me on a loop from what I thought could be my original idea, but what is a challenge if it doesn't make your mind sweat a bit right? And here it is!!

I am using Honey from the Goth Fairies Digi Set from Smeared Ink.  And from the list of materials as the challenge for the first day, I used: fibers or ribbon, metal, paint, newspaper, stencils. Here is my tag:

A little "cookie" Alice

Hello to Everyone!

"Tick-tock, the girl is gone, can I come out and jump around? I think I can, I think I may, I have time to spare, a while."

"Oh no, oh no! I'm little again! Oh how? Oh my? How to I grow back to my regular size?"

"Oh no, its her! I must lose her, yes I must! Oh look at the time! I must go, I am late! Only a couple of hours to go!!!"

Well this project I am happy to show since its been taking at least a week to finish.  It has not been easy, but hard work always pays off.  And I am late! Only a couple of hours before one of the competitions I want to participate closes, so I must hurry and post.  Haha, I hope I make it.  But yes, here is my latest and up to date, the most difficult project I have done.

It's a cookie jar! I say it's a cookie jar cause originally it was a soda cracker tin can, and now look at the out come!  The images I am using are Alice and The Cheshire Cat from the Octopode Factory and Smokey from Smeared Ink. The tin is completely covered in black acrylic paint then covered in a crazy shaped red and white tiled wall which was hand made on paper.  The table it made from cardboard and a paper towl carton.  A little bottle is filled with colored papers on the inside, which makes up the water. The letters were cut on the Cricut from a shiny designer paper.  And the swirls where hand drawn with metallic sharpie pens.  I hope you all enjoy:

To get a better look at everything I took a video and uploaded it on youtube for a 360 degree view of the while tin, enjoy as well.

Fruit Cake Surprise

Hello to Everyone.

Me again today.  Its been a while since I posted once, twice in one day in a record for me... Still starting here you know.  But the Christmas spirit was really going strong this week and I couldn't stop myself from making another card.  You might think its a little similar to the last and thats because Carlos over here with the fruit cake (Yes, I named this one Carlos) is from the same set as Martin and Franchesca, the penguins from the last card.  All three are from Penguins: Presents and Pudding from Squiggle Stamps, like I said earlier, check 'em out.

This time I went for a more traditional Christmas theme, going with reds and white.  The card is simple red, blue, and white cardstock one on top of the other, using white cardstock as paper snowflakes punch outs.  If you look well enough you can notice the white snow drops around the blue cardstock, which was made with a white pen.  And a "Merry Christmas" sentiment on top.  Enjoy:

Happy Penguin Holidays

Hello to Everyone!

We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy.... Wait, what? It's still summer? -.- I got excited for presents for nothing then... Haha, just kidding around. With a couple of competitions I had won or placed recently, I got some digis and decided to just color them, nothing big really.  Making a new project with paint my mom gave me an idea to make cards with some of the digis I had painted and here I am! I made two Christmas cards and can't wait to share both of them.  So keep on the look out for another Christmas card later today.  My cards are about PENGUINS! And yes, I decided to name them... Sorry if you find this crazy, but Martin and Franchesca are happy to be here. Hahaha.

For this card, I decided to use none traditional colors like: pinks, blues, greens and purples.  Adding some touches of red and green to let know it is a Christmas card, that and I had no clue what other colors I could paint a mistletoe without making it look like something else.  The image is Penguins: Presents and Pudding from Squiggle Stamps.  Check them out if you like it, they have a lot of nice digis.  It had designer paper (the pink one with snowflakes), paper snowflake punch outs covered in glitter, and a "Happy Holidays" Sentiment.  Its a pretty simple design, and I hope you enjoy it:

Birthday Faerie for Mom!!!

Hello to everyone!

Well hello humans on this earth... How has your day been? Good I hope, cause mine has been filled with no electricity and lots of rain. I am very happy because this week was my mother's birthday! Yay for my mommy! If you have no clue who I am talking about, my mom is Julia.  You probably know her, and if you don't, check out her blogs Paper and Scraps Creations and/or Me and Myself in the Dark.  She is an amazing crafter, and it is because of her that I began crafting.  So why not craft her a birthday card, right? Well although I am 4 days late (since she gave me no time to work on the card) to make the card, I finished it today and gave it to her and another part of the birthday celebration.

It is not a card, its a small poster.  The background in the card is made from canvas paper, which I cut into four pieces and completely hand painted them green using four different techniques.  Here is the first part of the project:

The upper left corner was made with using normal green acrylic paint with splashes of white and black mixed into it, following a left to right motion with the brush.  The upper right was finger painted into the canvas paper, using the white and black to create depth in the green image.  The lower right was made by pressing the brush quickly along the paper to create more of a blurry color mixture.  The last part, the lower left side was made by using a smaller brush, moving it in a circular motion (as if you were writing a J to the opposite direction, using more black and white into the green mix.  Once the paint in canvas paper dried completely, the corners tend to curl, so taking the correct measurements, I glued it to some cardstock and continued making the card, here is my finished project:

The image used is another image from Sureya, her name is the Little Leaf Faerie.  The flowers are 3 layers of the same .png image from Glitterbabe Greetings and they are colored with Spectrum Noir Bright pens and normal markers.

Pixie Smile

Hello to everyone!

Well hey guys, I've had ideas lately but everything was put on hold since my computer died this week.  Not much I can do without a computer, so now I have to be using family members computers while I get a new one before college begins in August.  So well guys, you're not here to listen to my problems, you're are here for a great project!!  Well, here it is.  I made a simple design for a great image from Sureya in Devianart, her name is The Lotus Princess.  It's a simple card, only using the image, a pink ribbon and some bling.

My nights encounter...

Hello to everyone.

I have decided to participate in a a few challenges with a little twist.  I said in my first post that I make paintings (as in using acrylic paint and canvases) but I haven't created any yet for challenges.  I have a few, but am saving them for challenge opportunities, so why not put this one up today, fresh.  I made this using only black and blue in the night sky; black, white and brown in the tree; green and black in the grass; and white for the clouds.  I decided to keep them simple in the color department, because then it would be to difficult to mix them again if I ran out of color.  I will try to make better pictures without the flash, but it is late in the night, and it is the only light I have. Well, here is my creation:

Blog Hop Winners :)

Hello to Everyone.

Originally I was not going to put the tin up for a prize, but seeing how people understood the post as if the tin was the prize, I decided why not.  Knowing myself, the tin would be in a corner and I would forget about it and someone else would like it more than myself, so instead of one winner.... There will be two.  One winner, the first, will win the Altered Tin.  The second winner will win the original prize: The Tim Holtz Idea-ology HALLOWEEN ADORNMENTS.  I put all the names in a little tin can and put the names in papers, the winners are:

WINNERS!!!
Congrats! The first pick was Steph, making you the winner of the Altered Tin.  Congratulations.  Second pick was Wendy, and you win the adornments.  Please email me at lokayayi@gmail.com for the addresses.
